Job Summary

The role will work with the EVP, Renewables to set strategy, guidelines, and parameters for the renewables vertical of the organization. Additional responsibilities include contacting and working with landowners, business owners, and agents to acquire, service, and retain a portfolio of real property assets under renewable energy infrastructure. This role will also manage a team of acquisition specialists. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in energy project land acquisition or development, ideally in solar, wind, and/or energy storage, who can demonstrate a track record for successfully developing landowner relationships and executing land control transactions.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for identifying landowners, establishing communication, developing relationships and shepherding properties through the acquisition process
  • Lead and build a high-performing team to support asset acquisitions – “player/coach” tactics and responsibilities
  • Perform prospecting and scoping activities, including working with our in-house team of experts on developing lead identification, cold calls, and arranging meetings
  • Ongoing assessment of energy market and development conditions, trends, and opportunities
  • High volume of phone calls per week to property owners and real estate professionals
  • Effective communication with property/landowners and team members daily (i.e., phone, email, etc.)
  • Independently motivated to drive new business, goal-oriented, and organized to track progress
  • Gather market intelligence


Key Competencies

  • Deep understanding of land control agreements including purchases and leases for renewable generation projects, specifically wind and/or solar
  • Strong landowner relationship building and deal negotiation capability
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with Accelerate’s cross functional teams and leaders where appropriate
  • Develop a team culture consistent with Accelerate Investment Partners' direction and strategy
  • Specialize in income-producing real property investments and acquisitions


Skills & Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 – 5 years land development or acquisition experience
  • Knowledge of renewable energy industry land control and development process
  • Work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of leases, purchase agreements, rights-of-way, SNDAs, easements, option agreements, as well as title and escrow process
  • Have the ability to influence without authority and be willing to work in a collaborative and team environment
  • Strong customer service, negotiation, team leadership and presentation skills
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to develop and lead a team of motivated land acquisition specialists
  • Willing to travel as needed
